Birthday Gifts for Kids

I got this cool idea from a home and garden television show that I have been following about hassle-free birthday gifts for kids. I have three kids in ages 4, 7 and 9. And that means that I have to prepare three times as much gifts for all those birthday parties that they get invited to attend. Then came this idea. Why not buy gift items in bulk and store them.

Children of the same age will want similar things. So whenever I can, I would pick a thing or two that might make a good birthday gift for my children’s friends. I buy stuff for boys as well as for girls.

Then, I just mix and match things when it is time to give them away. The beauty of this strategy is I can get my children gifts even when they get invited on short notice. Cool, isn’t it?

Unique Gifts for My New-Found Friends

My next door neighbor just moved in. They are from Malaysia. I am thinking of giving them unique gifts as a welcoming gift for them. I visited their house yesterday. They haven’t unpacked much yet. But I saw that they did not really bring much.

Mai, their teenage daughter, was sweet to show me in. She is actually pretty chatty unlike her mom, who I guess is still getting used to the language. Mai is attending an international school so she is pretty much acquainted with the English language.

I can’t seem to pick a gift for them so I just rummaged through my collections and decided to give them some of my fourth of July trinkets which I have accumulated through the years. I figure since it is their first time to be living away form their homeland, it should get them settled in their new home and enjoy its many celebrations.

Office Gifts for His First Job

My little brother just told us that he is going to start his work in an advertising agency in two weeks time. It will be his first job after graduation. So mom and I are picking him some office gifts to get him started in his career.

He actually had his internship in the same company. And they made him an offer to work for them permanently once he finishes his degree. We got him what my mom would call essentials: some tech pens, pencils, a new mug, a letter opener, among many other things. We had it packed on a cardboard box which he could take to go should he decide to just take everything to work.

Gifts for Grandparents

I encourage my children to give their grandparents gifts on special occasions. I do not just buy the gifts and ask them to give to their grandparents. I ask them to pick the gifts themselves. I do it this way because I want them to get to know their grandparents better and really show their affection to them through their gifts.

For my parent’s 40th wedding anniversary, I bugged them into buying a gift for their grandparents already. They told me that they already got it covered. I didn’t believe them as I didn’t see them come home with a gift or anything.

Just the same, I kept my doubts to myself. Then came the big day. We were all surprised when they took out the projector and played a compilation of all of my parent’s pictures since their younger years. Everybody present were teary eyed. I am so proud at my children and at how they show appreciation and love to my parents.
