I received many gifts from my parents; friends and relatives who made me realize that I am very important to them. There are plenty of foods in the table cooked by mom and she is a good cook that everyone liked her special recipes.

The great American novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird”, was published in 196o and went on to become one of the most popular novels. Now, on July 5, 2015, a sequel is being released that continues on the events of the book. The novel, “Go set a Watchman”, gets its tittle from Isaiah 21:6. It follows on the tragic and unfair events of the Alabama society that is portrayed in “To Kill a Mockingbird”. It is mainly about Scout’s view that his father, Atticus Finch, is the divine watchman sent to assist the oppressed people of Maycomb. The author, Harper Lee was born in 1926 in Alabama and the novel is about observations she made when growing up in the Jim-Crow laws dominated South. She witnessed several instances of racism being meted on African Americans. It was during the famous civil rights movement that she authored “Go Get a Watchman”. The main protagonist of the novel is modelled on the life of her own father, who was a firm defender of those discriminated upon.

Her 1960 book was the first accurate tale of how black people were being framed for crimes that they did not commit. The book is a humane view of the suffering of African Americans. But more importantly is that her narration is from a perspective unseen before. The Putlizer award winning novel became very popular and won Harper Lee a Presidential Award. In the wake of this popularity, Lee became the chief consultant in the all-time famous, ” In the Cold” published by Capote in 1966.Despite her popularity, Lee is a very reclusive person and has granted very few interview. She is releasing Go get a Watchman at the age of 85, although the book itself was written in the 1950s. Even before its release, the book has already stirred a storm with many critics making varying views about it. It surely is a book that is going to be a literary giant in the 21st century.
